After several fantastic years of classes at Manchester Community College,
Eric has decided to step away from the classroom in order to spend more
time with his family and studio work. However, the classes will continue
under the direction of "Beef Stew" Crossen. See below for more
information.
Introduction to Voice Overs--Put Your Mouth Where the Money Is
The voices that you hear behind TV commercials and movie trailers belong
to real people who make good money doing what they do. Learn about the
many opportuniies that exist in the world of voice overs and how you can
become part of that world. Commercials, industrial films, narrations,
characters and animation are just a few of the possibilities waiting for
good voice-over artists. Students in this course will learn what
producers are looking for, where the auditions are, the pros and cons of
having an agent, and much more. Turn your natural speaking voice into a
fun and lucrative career. The final class will meet at WCCC Radio Station
(106.9 FM), 1039 Asylum Ave., Hartford. Directions will be provided by
the instructor.
Intermediate Voice Over: Character Voice Workshop
Creating characters for animation, commercials, audiobooks, and video
games is more than just talking in a silly voice. Actors who can provide
many varied and believable characters will get hired again and again.
Building upon the skills learned in Introduction to Voice-Over,
students will develop their own archetypal characters that can be called
upon and adapted to the needs of each project. Through group exercises
and in-class readings, students will create several unique characters
that will help them throughout their careers. Prerequisite: Introduction
to Voice-Over, or permission of instructor.
